We have talked a lot this month about how it is May Beef Month. But beef is not the only commodity we celebrate this month. May is also Egg Month in Iowa.
Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds signed a proclamation designating May as Egg Month in Iowa on Monday. Katie Nola of the Iowa Egg Council says that this is a perfect time to salute the producers of Iowa eggs.
If you were not aware, Iowa is the largest producer of eggs in the United States. In fact, Iowa is leaps and bounds ahead of other states. Nola says not only can we credit the hard work of producers, but the hard work of the laying hens. They are the whole ball game.
