As we look at the ever-changing global marketplace, the United States needs to find new and emerging markets for its agricultural products. The U.S. Grains Council (USGC) has been spending several years working with the people in several African countries to develop their poultry industry. As it grows, it will become a new market for U.S. feed supplies.

Katy Wyatt is the Manager of Global Strategies for the USGC. She describes some of the work they have been doing in places like Tanzania.

Wyatt says Tanzania will become one of the world?s most populated countries by 2050. It is important they learn the skills of managing poultry farming now. The demand for protein will only climb from here. USGC has been there to guide them along the way.

As the USGC helps them develop their industry, they are also working to build a trade relationship with Tanzania.

Wyatt says all their work will pay dividends in the future.

This can help build a stronger market for feed grains and dried distiller?s grains (DDGs), which are used in many animal feed diets.
