“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” -John 16:33

Last week I got my required shots for my mission trip to Haiti that’s coming up.

I hate shots. I am terrified of them. I have such an intense fear, that no amount of people telling me to “get over it,” fixes the situation.

The next couple of days after the shot, I was in some pretty intense arm pain. My arms were swollen, and I had a difficult time raising them above my head.

However, the pain of the shots is worth experiencing God in a whole new way in Haiti.

Sometimes to do the will of the Lord, and to fulfill His calling on your life there is a little pain to endure.

We have to choose to look past the pain, and look what is coming after it.

As a Christ followers, we will have pain, but there is a God who has something greater in store for us on the other side of that pain.

There are very few people in the Bible that didn’t experience some kind of pain, but because of that pain they fulfilled a grand purpose.

Prayer: “God, thank you for overcoming the troubles and pain in my life. Help me to see past the pain. In your name I pray, Amen.”
