It is hard to believe how quickly the first half of 2020 has gone. Maybe that is because some of us have spent the last four months in some sort of isolation. As we cross the midway point, let us look back at the grain markets and their movements the past six months.

To say that it has been a difficult year on the commodity markets would be an understatement. Joe Vaclavik is the President of Standard Grains. He says that this year has been one for the record books. He talks about how we started the year.

Vaclavik says the impact was felt the hardest in the corn markets.

The woes for corn then found their way into other markets. However, one should not despair. As we enter the second half of the year, Vaclavik says there are some positive signs out there.

Many producers would say that we can only go up from here. All we can hope is that 2020?s abnormalities do not become the new normal.
