Living Into Lent

?Even now,? declares the LORD, ?return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.? -Joel 2:12

The season of lent is in full swing, as of yesterday.

The older I have gotten the more I have discovered what lent means for me.

For me, I see the season of lent as 40 days set apart that some Christians invest in some kind of spiritual discipline as a way of deepening their relationship with Christ.

Some people cut back on their sleep to devote the early morning hours to the Lord, some take time away from social media outlets, some give up certain food.

Maybe it’s not what you need to give up, but what you need to add into your day. How’s your quiet time with Jesus?

Lent is a time to re-focus our lives to be more in line with Christ.

It is important to be obedient to the moving of the Holy Spirit and follow through on exercising self-control in the area God is touching His finger on in your life.

So for the next 40 days, what is He urging you to start doing or give up for awhile?

Prayer: “God, thank you for this season of reflection and refocusing on my relationship with you. Help me to rediscover you in a whole new way over the next 40 days. In your name I pray, Amen.”
