Iowa FFA just got a new president. Zach Hamilton, of Goose Lake, will serve as this year?s Iowa FFA president. He studies fashion at Iowa State University.

?I am a freshman studying apparel and design, which means I would work for a fashion company [after graduation]. I am also looking at working with the American Footwear and Apparel Association to bridge the gap between agriculturalists and fashion designers to show where the products we get in fashion come from and why it is important to include agriculture in that.?

Hamilton says one of his goals as president is to reach out to every Iowa FFA member.

?Now we?re up to roughly 14,756 members within the Iowa FFA Association. That is quite a few members. One of the things we get to do as state officers is chapter visits. We visit as many chapters as we can by visiting directly with the members in helping them to grow their leadership with workshops or getting to meet and greet by talking with them.?

Hamilton has also raised sheep since he was 10 years old and has his own operation including purebred Oxford lambs and crossbred commercial animals.
