Eastern Iowa has been receiving the most moisture of any region in Iowa this growing season and that has led to the fungal disease, tar spot, in some corn fields in that portion of the state.

That?s BASF technical services representative Kurt Maertens who says the dryer parts of Iowa in central and western parts of the state have had other problems in the form of drought and heat stress.

Maertens says the right fungicide can help alleviate the challenges caused by heat stress.

Maertens spoke to the Iowa Agribusiness Radio Network at the BASF field day near Story City on Tuesday August 9th.
