John Block: Yea on China trade. Boo on Farm Bill failure

John Block has a smile on his voice when he talks about the reduction in trade tensions between the United States and China. He is not happy about the Farm Bill going down in flames, in the House of Representatives. He put two Farm Bills through the chamber, so he knows what it takes. Block says it is never easy.

Block says that he realizes that we only have a verbal agreement, right now. However, he is hopeful that it is enough to build on. Block thinks that opening trade dialogue with China can go a long way to help with talks with North Korea.

John Block is discouraged that the Farm Bill failed in the U.S. House of Representatives, but says not to be dismayed. Farm bills are a tough piece of legislation to bring across the finish line.

John Block was the Secretary of Agriculture under President Reagan from 1981 ? 1986.
