Yamanashi prefecture is a sister-state of Iowa. Its capital city, Kofu, hosted a bacon festival. Much like the Blue-Ribbon Bacon Festival held here in Des Moines.

Yamanashi has had a strong relationship with Iowa since 1959. This was the result of the ?Iowa Hog Lift.? Craig Morris of the National Pork Board explains.

Japan is a huge export market for U.S. pork, and Iowa is the largest hog producing state. It is a perfect match. Much like the match between bacon and everything else.
