Commodity Classic. For farm broadcasters and commodity groups, it is the Super Bowl, Daytona 500, World Cup, World Series, and Wrestlemania all rolled into one. All the groups are here celebrating the endurance of the American Farmer, but they are also here to set their national policies for the coming year. The Iowa Soybean Association (ISA) is one of those groups doing just that.

AUDIO: Brent Renner, Iowa Soybean Association

Brent Renner is an Iowa Soybean Association Director at Large and farms in North Central Iowa. He is also a voting delegate for the American Soybean Association (ASA) meetings here at Commodity Classic. We talked about the concerns that Iowa is bringing to the meetings. Trade is something that they are looking at on a national scale.

Renner also talked about the policies being implemented in Iowa at the state level. One of these topics was Governor Reynolds’s plan to rework the tax code. ISA wants to see how this could play out to the benefit of producers.

Farmers have faced many challenges in the past few years. Renner talks about what producers are hopeful for as the 2020 growing season approaches.

Renner says even in a challenging year like 2019, Iowa producers can feel good about what they accomplished. He says it goes to show that America?s farmers are good at what they do.
