Iowan nominated for key administration position

The Trump Administration nominates an Iowa resident for a key administration position.

Samuel H. Clovis Jr. received nomination for the Under Secretary of Agriculture for Research, Education, and Economics position. Clovis serves as the Senior White House Advisor to the United States Department of Agriculture. Most recently, Clovis served as the chief policy advisor and national co-chair of the Trump-Pence campaign.

Before joining the campaign, Clovis taught economics at Morningside College. Clovis holds a B.S. in political science from the U.S. Air Force Academy, a M.B.A from Golden State University and a Doctorate in public administration from the University of Alabama. Clovis also graduated from both the Army and Air Force War Colleges.

Following his graduation from the Academy, Clovis spent the next 25 years serving in the Air Force. Clovis retired as the Inspector General of the North American Aerospace Defense Command and the United States Space Command, and was a command pilot. Clovis is married to the former Charlotte Chase of Piketon, OH, and is originally from rural central Kansas.
