We have been waiting to hear word on a disaster bill for some time now. Iowa and Nebraska are hoping to see the start of the funding they will need to repair flood damage, while the southeastern U.S. has been waiting for over 200 days for Hurricane relief. The House passed its version last week, now it is the Senate?s turn.

Iowa Senator Joni Ernst told reporters the recently passed House Version has a lot of partisan features to it. She says the Senate is taking a more bipartisan approach.

Ernst says the Appropriations Committee is working to keep partisan divides out of the bill.

Senator Chuck Grassley told the same group of reporters there will be a vote, one way or the other before Congress adjourns for Memorial Day. He says he cannot imagine there will still be Senators who do not wish to help citizens who have suffered through disasters.
