An Iowa Senator announced his support of a recent USDA Under Secretary nomination.

Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) said he supports the nomination of Sam H. Clovis Jr. for the Under Secretary of Research, Education, and Economics position.

?I have known him for many years, and have confidence in him to be a good public servant, and I strongly support his nomination,? Grassley said. ?Under Secretaries are tasked with implementing the vision of the Secretary and President. Dr. Clovis, with his extensive military and educational background, and knowledge of agriculture policy, is well-suited for the job.?

Clovis serves as the Senior White House Advisor to the United States Department of Agriculture. Most recently, Clovis served as the chief policy advisor and national co-chair of the Trump-Pence campaign.

Before joining the campaign, Clovis taught economics at Morningside College. Clovis holds a B.S. in political science from the U.S. Air Force Academy, a M.B.A. from Golden State University and a Doctorate in public administration from the University of Alabama. Clovis also graduated from both the Army and Air Force War Colleges.
