Iowa Farmers Union members attend 115th National Farmers Union Convention in San Diego today through Wednesday.

Members have focused on issues including conservation, trade, and the upcoming farm bill.

?We would like to see the safety net provisions of the farm bill improved,? Iowa Farmers Union President, Aaron Lehman said. ?When we have a long-pronounced period of low prices that we are in now, the safety net features need to provide a level of support across the board and that it should be fair and consistent.?

Lehman says another issue they would like to see addressed is conservation.

?We continue to examine our conservation programs and would like continued support for farmers to put in effective conservation measures on their farm that provide a system using proven methods and conservation of sustainable agriculture that helps everyone.?

The group also plans to look at renewable fuels, consolidation in the Ag sector, and sustainable food production.
