Iowa farmer optimistic about fall harvest

Iowa farmers hammered down on harvest last week.

The weekly Crop Progress & Conditions report, out from the Department of Agriculture?s (USDA) National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) showed Iowa corn harvest at seven-percent complete, four-percent above last week. Soybean harvest reached 17-percent complete, 12-percent higher than the week prior.

Tim Recker, of Arlington, Iowa, recently started soybean harvest. He invited me to ride alongside him Tuesday morning. Recker shared early harvest results, as well as his excitement for this year?s harvest.
