The Iowa Farm Bureau and the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship would like to celebrate Iowa farmers’ conservation efforts through their annual Conservation Farmer of the Year Award.

This award recognizes farmers across Iowa for their outstanding achievement in conservation practices and the positive impact those practices are making on the environment.

Woven throughout our communities are farmers who have made outstanding contributions to soil conservation and water quality. Do you know a deserving farmer in your area?

The nomination process is easy. Simply provide a name and brief summary (100 words or less) to your county Soil and Water Conservation District office noting the farmer’s conservation efforts, how they protect our soil and water and manage nutrients and wildlife. For a complete list of Soil and Water Conservation District Offices, click here.

Nominations are due June 1st and can be emailed or dropped off at the county Soil and Water Conservation District Office.

The winner will receive free use of a John Deere 6E Series Utility Tractor or its equivalent for 12 months (up to a maximum of 200 hours), courtesy of Van Wall Equipment and John Deere (valued at as much as $12,000). The winner will be announced at the 2019 Iowa State Fair. They will also be honored at the Iowa Soil and Water Conservation District Commissioners Annual Meeting in August in Ames, Iowa.

Don’t hesitate. Send a name in today and show that Iowa farmers do care about our state’s soil and water.
