Iowa corn and soybeans holding against heat

The condition of Iowa’s field crops fell slightly over the past week in the face of very hot weather and some regions where rainfall was spare while others had above normal precipitation. According to the USDA’s weekly crop progress report, Corn is rated 68% good to excellent with soybeans at 62%. 74% of Iowa’s corn is in the silking stage. 75% of Iowa soybeans are blooming and 30% of the fields are setting pods. Illinois corn is 63% good to excellent with Indiana at 47%. Illinois soybeans are 59% good to excellent with Indiana at 47%.
