A well-known action group rallied at the statehouse Tuesday.

Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement took to the capitol rotunda to send a message to state legislators. ?Big Ag? lines the pockets of state politicians. Vanessa Marcano-Kelly is a member of ICCI.

?Some of the big money interests are big corporations or big at that are putting campaign contributions into legislator?s pockets so they will pass laws that are not standing up for people. They are standing up for people who are standing up for business and big corporations while at the same time they are taking away rights, wages, not protecting workers, and not protecting our water especially.?

Organizations mentioned at the ICCI rally included: Iowa Farm Bureau, Iowa Restaurant Association, and Iowa Corn Growers Association just to name a few.

Kurt Hora is president of the Iowa Corn Growers Association.

?It is important for corn growers to have a voice. Iowa Corn Growers Association is the voice for the Iowa corn farmer. We go up to capitol hill to express the interests and concerns of our growers. Two points we are working on this year include water quality and livestock,? Hora says.

Hora adds corn is vital to Iowa?s economy.

?Iowa is the number one corn producing state in the nation. We produce more than two billion bushels here in the state and process that much too through livestock and ethanol.?
