The Pro Farmer Midwest Crop Tour ended in Rochester, Minnesota on Thursday night. The East met the West and celebrated a successful trip. We received the final numbers on Iowa and Minnesota.

Jeff Wilson is the Western tour lead. He runs down what we saw in Iowa corn and how it compared to USDA estimates.

The beans came in lower than had been anticipated. There had been much hope Iowa was going to be the garden of the Midwest this year.

At the beginning of the tour, scouts had a feeling Minnesota could pose some yield issues. There were some shortcomings in the Southwest part of the state where rains were excessive. But further to the Southeast, there was some promise.

Soybeans in Minnesota seemed to be lacking, with no signs of adding pods.

Pro Farmer will release their yield estimates Friday afternoon.
