The Iowa 4-H Youth Development Program is celebrating 20 years of providing Clover Kids programs to children and youth statewide.

The Iowa 4-H Clover Kids is a youth program, reaching more than 9,000 Iowa youth in kindergarten through third grade. Nearly one in every ten of Iowa?s 4-H’ers are Clover Kids members.

?The Iowa 4-H Clover Kids program offers children in kindergarten through third grade opportunities to build valuable life skills, engage in a variety of hands-on educational activities, and develop positive relationships with caring adults.” said Nicole Hanson, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach 4-H Youth Program Specialist. “While celebrating the twentieth anniversary of Clover Kids, we are also celebrating growing enrollment numbers and offering new activity kits that provide learning opportunities in the areas of computer science, nutrition and engineering,?

Local 4-H Clover Kids programs can celebrate the Iowa 4-H Clover Kids Program?s 20th birthday by participating in one of twenty celebration ideas or sharing celebration ideas on the Iowa 4-H Clover Kids Facebook page.

?The 4-H Clover Kids group that shares the most unique photo or video celebrating or wishing Iowa 4-H Clover Kids a ?Happy Birthday? will receive twenty books and 4-H bookmarks,? said Hanson.

?Clover Kids is a wonderful opportunity for children and youth to make new friends, have fun, and learn about animals, science, music, art and much more,? said Sara Nelson, postdoctoral scholar with the Iowa 4-H Youth Development Program.

?I like being able to learn how to do different projects (in Clover Kids) and I also like the games that we play at the end of the day and being with my friends,? said Carson Schmitt, Wall Lake Clover Kids member in Sac County.
