When we hear the word propane, we automatically think of grain drying, heating, and the grill. Well, maybe not so much for you charcoal purists, we hardly ever think about the other options available for the use of propane in farming operations. The Propane Education and Research Council have new incentives for other uses for propane on your operation.

Mike Newland is the Director of Agriculture Business Development for the Propane Education and Research Council. He talks about the use of propane-powered engines for field irrigation systems.

Newland says that their website has tons of information on propane irrigation engines and information on cost and how to get started.

Another area where propane is finding more use is in organic weed control options such as weed flamers.

They are also working on all kinds of new technologies, which is still coming down the pipeline for farmers to use in the future.

Right now, they are offering incentives for producers to consider these propane-powered technologies. Producers could qualify for up to $5,000 in additional savings when they look to switch to propane-powered options.

Newland says you can find out more information about the options propane can provide on their website.

Newland also says that supplies for the 2020 harvest and heating seasons are in good shape.
