Iowa does not grow potatoes commercially. There are many places far more suited for that to our north and northwest.
However, the potato is a major part of our diet and that of people around the world. Yet, it is under attack from dietitians and policy makers, as one of the worst foods we eat. There have been threats not to include potatoes in government food programs or school lunches.
But potatoes have their defenders, and you will hear from one of the most eloquent, who is the director of a worldwide campaign called ?Imagine a World Without Potatoes?.
Potatoes are a big deal, especially in the Pacific Northwest. Marc DeBeaufort, a committed potato advocate, highlighted all the potato represents at the 2019 Potato Expo.
