It?s almost every farmer?s goal to pass their operation on to the next generation. You could say the seed industry is similar.

Illinois-based seed company Wyffels Hybrids is now in its 70th year of business. I caught up with Blake Wyffels the son of Bill Wyffels at the farm progress show. Wyffels says his passion for the seed industry began around the kitchen table.

?Started tasseling corn when I was 12 or 13 and started working seasonally in research and production for the company. After graduation from the University of Illinois, I joined the company full time as a district sales manager and have been floating around in sales and marketing the last few years.?

He says all he has ever known is agriculture.

?That is something I have really been passionate about, feeding the world, and growing things so I think agriculture and this company was a natural fit having grown up around it and learning it since the moment I could remember.?

Wyffels adds one thing that sets the company apart from others in the industry is that they are family owned.
