Agriculture has had its share of issues in the past couple of years. We have witnessed the decline in farm incomes, trade issues, low commodity prices, and weather-related concerns. However, there have been bright spots, lately, in 2018.

Iowa Farm Bureau?s David Miller took some time to visit with us about the state of agriculture as we approach 2019. There were some rays of hope for producers. Miller says even though the deal hasn?t been ratified, he is optimistic for the future of the United States – Mexico – Canada Agreement (USMCA), after it?s signing in Buenos Aires.

On China, Miller says he is happy to see the rhetoric wane a little bit. He is hoping that China will rethink their use of food products as part of their trade strategies.

Farmers are sincerely hoping these trade deals are more than just talk.
