Agriculture?s future is bright. It is also uncertain. We are going to need competent and driven individuals to keep moving forward in the 21st century. Education is a key component in this endeavor. The Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) is doing what it can to help.

The ICGA, along with the Iowa Corn Promotion Board (ICPB) is once again sponsoring the ?Future of Agriculture? scholarships. ICPB Director Larry Buss explains the importance of funding these scholarships.

There are sixteen $1,000 scholarships available this year. Eight of these are designated to go to students who are just graduating high school and eight are meant to be for students who have attended at least one year of post-secondary education. Students must actively be pursuing an accredited degree from a two-year or four-year program at a junior college, university, or post-graduate study.

Buss explains entrants need to fill out an application, send along their transcripts from either high school or the post-secondary program they are attending, they also must show proof of their pursuit of an agricultural field of study, and complete an essay about how they plan to use their education to benefit the future of Iowa agriculture.

All applications must be completed and postmarked by February 1st. You can find out more about the scholarship by going to the Iowa Corn Growers Website.
