Hungry

As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.? Psalm 42:1-2

Have you ever been in a room full of people and your stomach is loudly growling? People around you giggle as you place your hand over your stomach.

Growling doesn’t only come from the stomach but, it can be heard coming from the small intestines.

Growling is more commonly associated with hunger because it is typically louder when the stomach and intestines are empty and so the organs’ contents don’t muffle the noise.

As my stomach was growling letting me know that my insides were empty, God revealed to me that our souls do the same thing.

When we are spiritually hungry, it can be evident to the people around us.

Our attitude, the way we talk, and react can let us know that our insides are running on empty.

When we are full of Jesus our humanness and sinfulness if muffled because of what we have been filling ourselves with.

So, are you spiritually hungry? Is your soul growling to be filled with Jesus?

Prayer: “Lord, help me to be hungry for you and your word. Help me to fill myself with who you are. Thank you for muffling the empty parts of my life. In your name I pray, Amen.”
