The transition between winter and spring was not a good one. We saw late season snowfalls, cold snaps, and flooding take its toll on many herds. Do not despair, there are ways your herd can come through this adversity with strength.

With the stress cattle faced, Dr. Kevin Hill of Merck Animal Health says working closely with your veterinarian, this spring, is the most important first step.

Hill says your veterinarian can help you head off any springtime parasites in your herd.

Hill concludes by saying no matter which strategy you work out with your vet, make sure you are documenting everything you are doing. Make sure you are getting the properly signed documents from your veterinarian.
