For the past weeks and months, the markets have been taking hogs out behind the woodshed, for lack of a better term. Supplies have not been a problem for a few years now. That is keeping the market pressured and demand can change depending on which way the winds of foreign relations blow.

Yesterday we got the latest Quarterly Hogs & Pigs Report after the close. Robin Schmahl of AgMarket.Net reacted to the report as ?flat.? He talks about what stuck out to him in this report.

He adds that if we see any continued slide in hog prices, it won?t be because of this report. In fact, it may even give us a little support in the short-term.

With the number of hogs over 180 pounds growing by two percent, Schmahl says there is no threat to the supply of hogs anytime soon. In fact, it could keep the pressure up on the market.
