We have seen reports of bad quality crops. We have been speculating what this late harvest could do to crops. Now the farmers have started their engines. What are we seeing?
Kelly Nieuwenhuis is a member of the Iowa Corn Promotion Board, and he?s also a farmer in Northwest Iowa. He gives us a report on what he is seeing in his fields.
Nieuwenhuis says there have been corn stalk issues. Otherwise, the crop is looking decent.
Nieuwenhuis says while the soybean fields are wet, he hasn?t seen much damage to the crop.
When we talked planting conditions with Nieuwenhuis this spring, he said the only constant he saw in farming was every year was different. He echoed that statement with this year?s harvest.
I believe many Iowa farmers would agree.
