“Green New Deal” shutdown in Senate

The United States Senate Tuesday voted against further discussion on the “Green New Deal.”

The bill, authored by Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY 14th District), failed to receive support, even from members of her own party. Two Democratic members joined their Republican counterparts in voting “NO,” while remaining Democrats voted “PRESENT.”

The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) believes this move benefits beef producers and production agriculture. NCBA chief environmental counsel Scott Yager provides additional comments in the program below.
