The current farm bill expires on the 30th of this month. The House and Senate conference committee is set to meet and discuss the 2018 Farm Bill, this week.

Senator Chuck Grassley says while he is not on the Farm Bill Conference Committee, he has made his priorities known to Senate Ag Committee Chairman Pat Robert (R-KS) and others.

Grassley says the consensus is the Farm Bill needs to be done by September 30th. Grassley believes the worst-case scenario is it should be in place before Congress goes into the election recess.

When Grassley?s amendment for subsidy reforms was not included in the Senate Farm bill, he voted against it. He says if his subsidy reform language is not included in the final version, he may do it again.
