After receiving a response to his February 26 letter to USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack, Senator Chuck Grassley is still unsatisfied that meat inspection isn’t receiving the fiscal attention he thinks it should.
According to Grassley, the sequester shouldn’t be affecting every line item without impunity. Otherwise, Grassley says, the White House’s Office of Management and Budget wouldn’t have released a directive emphasizing health, law enforcement and safety, which he believes should encompass protection of meat inspectors as well.
