Grassley optimistic Farm Bill extension won’t be needed

The United States Senate is hoping to name its list of conferees to work with the House of Representatives on the 2018 Farm Bill. The current Farm Bill expires on September 30th. Will they have enough time?

Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley told reporters he has been assured by Senate Ag Committee Chairman Pat Roberts (R-KS) the farm Bill can be finished in September, after the House returns from August recess.

Senator Grassley has told Chairman Roberts he wishes to be on the conference committee, but is not certain Roberts will appoint him.

Grassley says the way for a conference committee agreement is very simple.
