Ambassador Terry Branstad was sworn in Wednesday morning as Ambassador to China. The event took place at the Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines. Thirty minutes later, Kim Reynolds became Iowa?s first woman governor. Reynolds has four priorities as governor; tax reform, education, workforce training, and innovation in energy.

?For years, our fields have fed the world, now they energize it. They produce products that fuel cars and host wind turbines that power our communities and businesses, yet those fields are fill with untapped potential. Our energy plan will help us continue to lead the way in wind energy and renewable fuels,? Governor Reynolds says.

Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey says it?s a historic day for the state.

?Iowans that are picking their kids of from school realize nothing is different at the end of the day which is part of the beauty of a day like this. Life goes on, people serve but we have an opportunity for new leadership and new blood and new efforts to make Iowa great again too.?

Speculation still surrounds Northey as to whether he got the Farm Production and Conservation undersecretary position at USDA. Only time will tell.
