Governor Terry Branstad tout?s renewable energy at the Iowa State Fair. Tuesday was Renewable Energy Day at the Iowa State Fair. Governor Branstad says Iowa leads the nation in renewable energy.

?We lead the nation in renewable energy whether it be ethanol, biodiesel, wind and now solar. This is more income for Iowa farmers and it [creates] good jobs in Iowa and good for the environment. It is also low cost so it is good for the consumer [making] it a win win win situation.?

Branstad says he?s signed several pieces of legislation over the years to promote its growth like the recently passed biodiesel tax credit.

?It expands the market for biodiesel and we also passed a renewable tax credit for renewable chemicals which is a bio product that comes from making ethanol and biodiesel so we can replace petroleum-based chemicals with bio-based chemicals which is good for jobs and the environment in Iowa.?
