Get planting done right to ensure bigger yields

During planting season growers are navigating weather, field conditions, and equipment breakdowns in order to get seed in the ground. There is already a lot to think about but proper management decisions by the grower during planting will also go a long way towards final yield numbers.

Scott Kay is Vice President of U.S. Crop Protection at BASF and he says the first concern a grower needs to deal with is the threat of soybean cyst nematode.

Kay says that SCN is so widespread throughout the Midwest, it is a concern for everyone.

He says that because of the unpredictability of the weather, a strong residual can help a grower throughout the season.

At the same time, Kay says that multiple modes of action are the best way to fully protect your crops.

He says that with interest rates continuing to climb, there are financing options through BASF that can help a grower?s bottom line.

Scott Kay made his comments to the Iowa Agribusiness Radio Network at Commodity Classic 2023.
