The COVID-19 pandemic has opened up a lot of programs for people of all walks of life to get the help they need to get by. For farmers, it the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP). Currently, the second iteration of the program (CFAP 2.0) is open for enrollment, but Farm Service Agency (FSA) Administrator Richard Fordyce wants producers to know that the deadline is fast approaching.

The CFAP 2.0 was released to increase financial assistance to producers facing setbacks in marketing and prices due to COVID-19. Administrator Fordyce talks about the Iowa-produced commodities that are eligible. This includes corn, soybeans, cattle, pork, and dairy. There are also provisions for other specialty products as well.

When you are applying for the CFAP 2.0 program, you are going to need to provide information to the FSA. Fordyce runs down a bit of that information that producers need to bring with them.

FSA Administrator Fordyce reminds producers that the signup deadline for CFAP 2.0 is on December 11th, 2020.

You can find CFAP 2.0 signup information at the farmers.gov website.
