Forage is abundant at midsummer in Iowa. Ruminants – cattle, sheep, etcetera utilize forage for meat and milk production. It is their natural feedstuff and is the basis of livestock production.

The Noble Research Institute is conducting a study on the efficiency of forage-based cattle systems. Dr. Billy Cook, senior vice president and director of the agricultural division of the Noble Research, has been involved in the research of GrowSafe Systems – a Calgary-based technology company which puts the Institute on the cutting-edge of measuring forage-based cattle systems. Cooks explains his work in a recent interview with Radio Oklahoma farm director Ron Hays.
