FMCSA offers clarification for agricultural haulers

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) announced regulatory guidance to clarify the applicability of the “Agricultural commodity” exception in the “Hours of Service (HOS) of Drivers” regulations.

In December of 2017 the FMCSA proposed guidance changes regarding the transportation of agriculture products and personal conveyance. Chairman Martinez says Ag haulers have special requirements and sometimes do not need to have Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs).

Martinez says that some guidance needed clarification, while some guidance is brand new.
