You never know what Mother Nature is going to throw at us year after year. At the end of the last few years, we have all said that ?next year has to be better.? However, it always seems we are thrown another set of curveballs that we did not expect. Farmers know that to be successful you must plan for anything, or at the very least be ready to adapt quickly. FMC is pleased to talk about one of those tools that will help you get out in front of plant diseases; Xyway? fungicide.

Gail Stratman is the Regional Technical Service Manager for the Heartland Region at FMC. He tells us about FMC?s new Xyway? fungicide, which offers an in-furrow, at-planting product that provides season-long foliar disease control in corn. That is something that has not been offered before.

Stratman says this is different than the standard practice of waiting for diseases to show up, then treating them with a foliar fungicide. Xyway? allows the product to offer protection all the way through grain fill and maturity. It will handle Gray Leaf Spot and Northern Corn Leaf Blight.

Stratman says it is a lot like the vaccinations that we are thinking about during this pandemic. Xyway? offers year-round prevention at the start of the growing season, long before any diseases have even shown up.
