Fire heightens awareness of mandatory price reporting reauthorization

We have talked about the Tyson Foods packing plant fire, which occurred in early August.

The numbers show that even though the plant created a void of about 3,000 head per week, the industry rallied and kept up with the flow of choice cattle coming to market. The real issue with cattle producers remains the sharp downtrend in live cattle prices offered by packers after the fire, even though box beef prices moved higher.
