Feenstra talks advocacy efforts and the importance of promoting facts

The lists of Congressional committee members have been announced, and we are well-represented in Iowa. Iowa 4th District Congressman Randy Feenstra has been named to two different committees: the Agriculture Committee and the Ways and Means Committee. Feenstra said he?s grateful to have been selected for both, and he?s excited to continue to be a strong voice for Iowa agriculture.

As part of his agricultural advocacy, Congressman Feenstra recently took a trip to Mexico City to discuss Mexico?s impending ban on GMO corn. Feenstra said he had a great chat with Mexico?s Secretary of Agriculture, and they promised to get this issue resolved.

Mexico understands that they need corn, but the facts on GMO corn have been muddied. That?s why Feenstra said it?s important to advocate for agriculture and keep everyone informed.

We?ve also seen some of those advocacy-related issues in our own country. Feenstra talked about how the new WOTUS rule will ultimately harm rural America.

While he?s not expecting it too much, Feenstra said he hopes that President Biden will address the ag industry in tonight?s State of the Union Address.
