Feedlot placements shoot sharply higher

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) released the 2017 December Cattle on Feed report Friday, showing a huge increase in feedlot placements in November.

Over 2 million head went in and far less came out. The trade estimate for cattle placements was 5.7 percent. The real number was more than double that.
