Farm Bureau pushes expanded rural broadband

The Internet has become a necessary part of our lives.  But many in rural America do not have access to the speeds of those in urban areas.   The rural-urban divide is comparable to when Electricity was available in cities but not in Rural America.

Many have called for a program of expansion similar to the Rural Electrification Administration of the 1930s.

Congress has rural broadband on its calendar this year.  It may be the only part of improving infrastructure to get a hearing in this sharply divided government.

The American Farm Bureau says recently-introduced legislation would enhance the accuracy of broadband coverage maps, a good first step to improving rural broadband coverage.
