Senator Joni Ernst addressed the media, Thursday, about many topics. These ranged from funding for projects in low-income areas in Iowa as well as the recent Helsinki summit between President Trump and Russian President Putin.

On the topic of the Farm Bill, Senator Ernst is hopeful the Senate can move quickly to joining their colleagues in the House of Representatives in putting together a group for the Farm Bill conference committee.

The current version of the Farm Bill expires on September 30th. The Senate intends to remain in Washington, instead of taking the traditional August recess. However, the House intends to take their summer break. Senator Ernst says this absence could make conference negotiations a little bit tougher.
