Iowa’s junior senator remains hopeful of the United States? involvement in clean energy efforts despite recent actions made from within the White House.

Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) says the nation will continue to combat global warming, despite President Donald Trump?s decision to withdraw from the Paris climate accord.?We can go ahead and move forward with our own clean energy and renewable fuel ideas,? Ernst says. We don?t have to be reliant upon other countries to do that.?

Senator Ernst says Iowa in particular will continue to hone in on renewable energy efforts already in place.

?We have been a leader in renewables for a very long time now; before the Paris agreement was signed,? Ernst says. ?We will continue to move ahead because Iowa is the number one in innovation, and I love it.?

President Trump announced plans to withdraw from the Paris Accord Thursday. The agreement, signed by 195 nations, hoped to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and limit the rise in average global temperatures.

Ernst provided comment relating to the Paris Accord at her 3rd Annual Roast and Ride event in Boone. The event, attracting 501 motorcyclists, raised funds for Hope for the Warriors, a national nonprofit providing assistance to combat wounded service members, their families, and families of those killed in action. Featured guest speakers included Senator Tim Scott (R-SC), U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley, Vice President Mike Pence, Governor Kim Reynolds and Congressman Steve King.
