Members of oil, ethanol, biodiesel, wind, and solar energy sectors meet in Des Moines to solve challenges. The third annual energy conference takes place in Des Moines today and Wednesday. The conference is titled ?Connect, Collaborate, and Innovate.?

Dawn Carlson is President and CEO of the Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Stores of Iowa or PMCI.

Carlson says the whole concept is to connect, collaborate and innovate along with global drivers and decision makers from all the leading energy sectors.

?We not only have the oil companies as refiners but the companies downstream who do blending with biodiesel. We have wind and solar and other energy aspects that are involved in the conference. They have all come together with one goal in mind which is to create profit driven opportunities,? Carlson says.

Oil and ethanol organizations don?t exactly meet eye to eye. Carlson adds this is a way for everyone to solve differences.

?The oil companies don?t like mandates and then you have folks advocating higher mandates with higher RVOs on ethanol and biodiesel. They are going to have different opinions. Anytime you can bring both in the same room you can look for opportunities to worth together well,? Carlson says.

PMCI hosted the energy conference at the Embassy Suites in Des Moines Tuesday and Wednesday.
