?National Farmers Market Week, and every week, is a great time to visit your local farmers market to support the vendors who are there, and enjoy some of the great food grown in this state.?

With more than 220 farmers markets up and running in the state, Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey, urges Iowans to pick up fresh fruits and vegetables that will be available all over the state during National Farmers Market Week. National Farmers Market Week, runs August 7th to the 13th.

The Secretary also encouraged Iowans to use their smartphones to download the free Iowa Farmers Market app. This app allows Iowans to locate the nearest farmers market, view the hours, look through a list of vendors, take pictures, and leave reviews.

?Farmers markets are a great place to find healthy and delicious Iowa grown fruits, vegetables, meats and other products,? Northey said.
