On Friday, the same day the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) implemented its year-round E15 rule, Elite Octane held the Grand Opening of their new state of the art facility outside Atlantic, Iowa. It was a celebration of all things ethanol.

Elite Octane’s Atlantic facility will produce 150 Million gallons of ethanol every year. This equates to 150 semi loads of corn every day. Elite Octane President and CEO Nick Bowdish breaks it all down.

Governor Kim Reynolds was one of the dignitaries in attendance. She noted the partnership needed to build this plant is something to be celebrated. It took a monumental effort to cooperate the public and private sectors into building the first new ethanol plant opened in over a decade.

Part of the joyous atmosphere had to do with the implementation of year-round E15. Senator Joni Ernst commended the EPA for moving as swiftly as they did to get the rule done.

Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig best summed up the jubilant atmosphere of the day.

It truly was a great day for ethanol in Iowa.
