Drought in Plains intensifies, not likely to reach Midwest

The markets are closed today with soybean traders watching for drought to impact Argentina?s crop. Brazil is doing very well in soybeans, now projected at a record 115 million metric tonne crop. How is the United States going to fare in 2018?

Drought is extreme in the southwest region, but what?s the prospect for La Nina going into spring? Will we get normal rainfall in Iowa?

I spoke with a prominent agricultural meteorologist on Friday. DTN chief meteorologist Bryce Anderson?s observations in the program below.
